Mark Rushton’s Interpolation in the Arts is a weekly email on Substack where I talk about my ongoing work as a recording artist and visual artist.
This email is brought to you by the Mark Rushton Gallery, for printed and original artworks. License my music, sound fx, and illustrations at Pond 5 for your creative project. I’m on Bandcamp and all the usual streaming services.
This week’s topics:
Reviving the Dead for a Victory Lap
Beth Gibbons - Tell Me Who You Are Today
Reviving the Dead for a Victory Lap
Nothing to really show this week. I didn’t work on any visual art. I edited a bunch of longer ambient pieces, but those are for the future. Anything that did arrive is nothing I can talk about just yet.
I can share something. Are we still allowed to do that on the internet?
I watch a lot of car repair videos on YouTube. Over a decade ago, I started watching Cold War Motors in Canada. I also like 5150mxVW. Many others. Hampus Granstrom is a new addition.
As is Flexiny. He’s in Estonia. No talking. It’s easy to follow along.
There’s something to be said for the simplicity of these machines. Reviving the dead for a victory lap is always a sight to see.
Beth Gibbons - Tell Me Who You Are Today
I missed this when it was released last May. She’s the singer in Portishead.
No electronics here. Just acoustic guitars, percussion, strings, and woodwinds.
