Big Pad
In a Moment
Mark Rushton’s Abundant Spare Time is a weekly email on Substack where I talk about my ongoing work as a recording artist and visual artist.
This 157th weekly email is brought to you by the Mark Rushton Gallery, for printed and original artworks. License my music, sound fx, and illustrations at Pond 5 for your creative project. I’m on Bandcamp and all the usual streaming services.
Pre-order my album “Omniessence” on Bandcamp - out October 1, 2025. Spacey Omnichord synths & beats.
Get the Calmer Feeling album “Pianos in the Fields of Color”, a collab between me and John Eric Copeland. Electronics + piano. Also on the streamers.

Big Pad
It’s been a busy week at the day job.
I found this Post-It Big Pad in one of the copier rooms with a few sheets left.
The URL on the box redirects, so I don’t think this is being made anymore, although this product might be rebranded as Super Sticky Notes.
Excellent artwork! I could look at this image all day.
Swedish Gravy
Summer continues for at least another week. The pollen count makes creating or editing music difficult.
There was progress on finding a shared studio / display gallery space. It would be for me and two others. I only want a little wall space for display, and to show up once or twice a month to provide ambient or quiet electronic music for events.
We’ll know more in the next couple of weeks.
Benjamin Mørk - I Et Øyeblikk
Benjamin Mørk's 27-minute album Mechanical Piano, released in 2020, has an interesting story. Mørk acquired an old piano and used microphones to amplify the internal mechanics to provide rhythmic texture with the composition. It’s a beautiful effect.
I first heard Mørk on his 2021 album, The Valleys, with trumpet player Arve Henriksen. I’ve been listening to Henriksen’s music for nearly 20 years. Henriksen has a deep catalog of excellent work with lots of collaborations.
