I started scheduling recordings for release on January 2, 2024. One single as Mark Rushton (“Thread Sleep”) and another as My Love Underwater (“Amended Return”). Both are ambient. There will be more.
You can follow Mark Rushton on Spotify or My Love Underwater on Spotify and get notified when they’re out.
One thing I did recently was to create a daily checklist as a calendar reminder in the evening. I don’t have to do everything in the playlist, but it’s helpful to have this staring me in the face. It’s currently:
Spotify playlist
Playlisting post
Image Substack
New track
New painting or revised
Live video
1 & 2 - Never give up on your catalog, so make a Spotify playlist often, occasionally posting one on my Playlisting Substack, and every week distribute those playlists to the other services via Soundiiz.
3 - “When are you going to get around to making a Substack strictly for your imagery with links to your gallery and then posting daily?” It’s made, but I need some excuses as to why I’m not doing this yet.
4 - I’ll get back to making new music soon. Maybe a slight change in direction as I am buying some new apps.
5 & 6 - Working on new or revised paintings while on video is easy for me. Turn the computer and camera on, and fly by the seat of your pants.
7 - I’ve been a little busy lately. I did earn some money from Pond5 for stock music licensing in 2023. It’s too bad distributors don’t let you automatically feed stock music libraries.
Last night, I live-streamed video where I revised a small painting for a second time, but mostly talked about trying to find a studio space outside my home:
Over at my Playlisting Substack, I had a few posts this week, including one for the Flowing Curtain ambient playlist. That post has links to the playlist on Spotify, Pandora, YouTube Music, Apple Music, Deezer, and Tidal.
I’m sure I’m forgetting something.
Yes!
This week, I rode the Express Bus to work and back, rather than driving. That gave me some music creative time. I’ll do more of this when the snow starts flying.
And I went to The Insomniac Bookshop’s live pop-up sale. I picked up a bio of the Rolling Stones and Keith Richards by Tony Sanchez. That should be a fun read.
